Description To conduct an assessment of the operational and environmental factors associated with the use of chemical dispersants to treat oil spills in California Marine waters, with a view toward expediting dispersant use decision-making and planning for such spills.
Progress A kick off meeting was held in the Pacific OCS Regional office on June 6, 2001. The meeting included participants from MMS, SL Ross, OSPR, EPA, NOAA, and USCG.  The meeting focused on determining spill scenarios and gathering data for those spills.  The contractor gathered the remaining environmental and engineering data necessary to run the model, ran their model and generated a final report that is available. A paper was presented at the 2002 AMOP meeting and another presentation was made at the International Oil Spill Conference in 2003 in Vancouver, B.C.
