| Description | This was a Joint Industry Project (JIP). The objectives were to establish a protocol for determining if and when the cathodic protection system on a particular structure should be retrofitted and to define a design practice for cathodic protection retrofits in cases where retrofitting had been determined to be necessary. |
| Progress | A procedure for calculating the
resistance of a conductor array was introduced. The slope parameter and the optimum anode
design can be determined from this. Resistance of a miniaturized, simulated conductor
array was measured in seawater; the results were compared with results from the analytical
design method. A workshop was held in conjunction with project #242 in Galveston, Texas on Feb 7-10, 1999. Proceedings are available upon request. The project was completed in January 2000. |
