| Description | This study was a
Joint Industry Project (JIP) and is an adjunct investigation to Project
No. 147. The objective was to examine the important combined motion and
damping problems involved in the hydrodynamic analysis of deep-water risers and compliant
structures. The specific aims were:
The time series data was partitioned into low frequency patterns, indicative of patterns previously observed with simple periodic motion and the IPM, and high frequency time series indicative of the damping forces. During the performance period, the contractor explored improvements of the Morison methodology which are indicated by these damping force coefficient |
| Progress | Completed. A proposed continuation of the project will not be funded. |
