The highly successful cooperative agreement program eventually included a total of 14 states and identified hundreds of millions of cubic yards of sand deemed suitable for beach nourishment. A number of beach nourishment projects completed in Maryland, Virginia, and Florida used sand evaluated by the cooperative program including several done on an emergency basis to prevent imminent breaching. The 14 states involved in the cooperative program were: Alabama, Maine, North Carolina, California, Maryland, South Carolina, Delaware, Massachusetts, Texas, Florida, New Hampshire, Virginia, Louisiana, and New Jersey.
