MMS Hosting "Production Data Workshop"

DENVER – Options for streamlining and improving the collection and dissemination of oil and gas production data will be the focus of a Production Data Workshop scheduled for Dec. 5, 2006, in Houston, Texas, and hosted by the Department of the Interior’s Minerals Management Service (MMS).

The workshop is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at:

Minerals Management Service
4141 N. Sam Houston Parkway East, Suite 202
Houston, Texas

There is no charge for the workshop, but participants are asked to register in advance by Friday, Nov. 24, via the web at:  http://www.mrm.mms.gov/ReportingServices/Training/ETFormProd.htm

Workshop sponsors note that the availability of accurate and current oil and gas production data from Federal and Indian leases is an important issue to the MMS, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the oil and gas industry. The workshop will include break-out sessions, depending upon attendance, to identify and facilitate discussions regarding potential short- and long-term solutions.

The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. with a welcome and introductions, followed by background discussions concerning data requirements, data exchange issues and reporting issues. Break-out sessions are planned for Minerals Revenue Management (MRM)/BLM Data Exchange issues and BLM Data Needs; MRM/Offshore Energy and Minerals Management Data Exchange issues, including the reporting of production and shut-in statistics during hurricanes; Reporting Issues; and Industry Data Needs.

The workshop is designed for industry representatives responsible for reporting oil and gas production data to the Federal Government.
