Interior Department to Announce Gulf of Mexico
Energy Production Forecast

WASHINGTON — Rebecca Watson, assistant secretary of the Interior for Land and Minerals Management will release and discuss the department’s first-ever 10-year oil and gas production projection at a news conference in Washington, D.C., Nov. 15, 2004. The Gulf of Mexico provides 30 percent of U.S. domestic oil production and 23 percent of natural gas production.  The forecast is particularly important in light of recent oil and gas price spikes.
