MMS IMPLEMENTS NEW OUTER CONTINENTAL SHELF PERFORMANCE REVIEW PROGRAM

Effective August 1, 1997, the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Mineral Management Service (MMS) will begin conducting Annual Performance Reviews of all Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) operators. The review will examine the safety of OCS performance while encouraging open communication between operators and MMS officials.

The annual review will not require operators to submit any additional information; however, they may contribute information that might reflect on their performance during the preceding year. The MMS embraces this opportunity to discuss with operators how they plan to maintain and improve their compliance, safety, and environmental performance levels.
