The U.S. Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service (MMS) is using the World Wide Web to keep states, industry, and other customers informed about the agency's activities to implement the Federal Oil and Gas Royalty Simplification and Fairness Act (RSFA) of 1996.
The MMS Royalty Management Program has created an informational link "New Royalty Fairness Implementation," which describes the RSFA and offers a Calendar of Events; Schedules of Meetings with associated descriptions and minutes; and Informational Contacts. Via a link to the Library of Congress, the language of the law also is offered.
MMS provides an array of new and published information about the agency and its activities via the MMS Home Page at www.mms.gov. Both "What's New" and "Collecting and Distributing Revenue" link to "New Royalty Fairness Implementation."
MMS is the federal agency that manages the Nation's natural gas, oil and other mineral resources on the Outer Continental Shelf, and collects, accounts for and disburses about $4 billion yearly in revenues from offshore federal mineral leases and from onshore mineral leases on federal and Indian lands.
