FOR RELEASE: June 23, 1994 CONTACT: Tom DeRocco (202) 208-3983 GOTTLIEB CHOSEN TO HEAD ALASKA MMS REGIONAL OFFICE (#40044) The Director of the Interior Department's Minerals Management Service (MMS), Tom Fry, today announced the selection of Judy Gottlieb as Director of the MMS Alaska Region. Presently the Associate Regional Director for Administration for the National Park Service Alaska Region, Gottlieb will begin her new assignment July 11. "Judy Gottlieb's career with the Interior Department spans some 20 years," said Fry, "with most of it spent in Alaska with MMS working in increasingly responsible positions. "She is dynamic, hard-working and very knowledgable about the many issues MMS faces in Alaska; we feel fortunate to have her back with us," Fry said. Gottlieb has a B.S. from Boston University, a M.S. from the University of Maryland, and has completed the Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program. She also holds the Meritorius Service Award, the second highest award the Interior Department can grant to career employees.
