Notes:
- The MMS already has significant experience in several projects involving buried subsea pipelines. The Northstar Project pipeline, which was installed in early 2000, is the first buried subsea pipeline in the Beaufort Sea.
- Currently, the Liberty Development Project is in the permitting stage. We released the draft environmental impact statement for this project earlier this year. The analysis for the draft environmental impact statement contains information from several studies on different Arctic subsea pipeline designs.
- We also have an active research and development program that has sponsored a number of studies directed specifically at Arctic development, including pipelines.
