Notes:
- Currently there are three scenarios for exporting the known 26 tcf of gas reserves in the Prudhoe Bay area.
- One scenario calls for converting the gas to LNG, and transporting it by special tankers. At the point of delivery, the LNG is turned back into gas and is used in conventional applications.
- A second scenario is to build a plant at Prudhoe Bay that converts the gas permanently to synthetic petroleum liquids, then pipe and ship it to the U.S. west coast using the existing transportation infrastructure for Prudhoe Bay crude oil.
- The last scenario is to build a natural gas pipeline along one of two proposed routes. The pipeline would connect to the established gas pipeline network in western Canada, to be distributed in Canada and to the U.S. Midwest and West Coast.
