Surface Blowout Preventer Workshop for Floating Drilling Operations

NOTE: 2002-N010 is available for download in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF).

The Minerals Management Service (MMS) in cooperation with the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) announces a workshop that will examine the issues associated with the use of a surface blowout preventer (BOP) during floating drilling operations.  The workshop will be held in Houston, Texas on November 6, 2002.

The workshop’s mission is to educate the industry on the surface BOP technique for floating drilling operations and provide an understanding of the associated risks and mitigating safeguards. Its objective is to identify the unique aspects of surface BOP operations and to form dedicated work groups to establish guidelines to ensure consistent best practices are adopted throughout the industry.

MMS welcomes and encourages your participation in this workshop.
