Remarks: A contract employee was removing a ¾ inch plug from a nipple in the tubing hanger after a BOP test. High nitrogen pressure had migrated into the nipple during the BOP test. Not realizing pressure was in the nipple, the employee’s right hand was impacted when the plug was removed. It was later determined that the employee had a broken hand and was admitted to the hospital for treatment/observation.
