National Assessment of the Effects of Global Change
Under the U.S. Global Change
Research Program, a cooperative effort is currently underway to prepare a National
Assessment of the effects of global climate change on all the various resources in the
U.S. Workshops were held in all different parts of the country in 1997 and 1998 to
scope out issues. MMS participated in the national workshop and in the ones for the
Mid-Atlantic, Gulf Coast, California, and Alaska. Teams are being put together to
write reports at the regional level and for synthesizing a report for the national
level. The National Assessment is scheduled for completion at the end of 1999.
