The EPA reissued the NPDES general permit for the Pacific Planning Area in 1983 (48 FR
55029, November 1983). While the permit expired June 30, 1984, the EPA
administration extended its coverage indefinitely for existing facilities. Any
activities beginning after June 30, 1984 are issued individual permits. The EPA is
expected to publish a draft proposed NPDES general permit this fall. The proposed
permit would cover all exploratory operations on existing leases and the following
existing development and production facilities: Platforms A, B, C, Edith, Ellen, Elly,
Eureka, Gail, Gilda, Gena, Grace, Habitat, Harmony, Harvest, Henry, Heritage, Hermosa,
Hillhouse, Hidalgo, Hogan, Hondo, Houchin, and Irene. All previously issued NPDES
permits would be terminated once this permit became effective.
