Legality

CWA - Legal Responsibility and Regulatory Enforcement

The MMS meets their legal responsibility by working with the EPA and offshore operators.  MMS inspectors pick up NPDES-required samples from offshore operators and deliver them to the EPA.  In addition, MMS inspectors conduct record exams.
