Shallow water deep gas royalty relief can be
provided through regulations or individual lease terms. Leases issued in
Gulf of Mexico Region (GOMR) sales in water depths 400 meters or less
that lie wholly west of 87 degrees, 30 minutes West longitude were
granted relief in the regulations provided below, for producing natural
gas from a well drilled to depth of at least 15,000 subsea.
