For many years, Bob Stewart has worked consistently and diligently with the MMS to advance the state of safety in offshore operations. He has steadfastly supported the MMS in addressing the safety issues confronting us, through his participation in the Outer Continental Shelf Policy Committee, and in government-industry work groups and meetings. This has included the MMS Safety Award for Excellence Program, which the National Ocean Industries Association hosted for many years, as well as support work during the development of the Safety and Environmental Management Program initiative. Further, under his leadership, the NOIA instituted the Safety in Seas Program which recognizes excellence in safety among operators and contractors in the various offshore industry sectors. All of these activities support the MMS OCS safety initiatives either directly or indirectly.
