These recipients are awarded the MMS Corporate Leadership Award for their key leadership role over the last two years, working through the Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies, Inc. (COPAS), in supporting RMP in its Reengineering Initiative. Their continued focus on improving the business processes and the relationship between industry and RMP has led to an atmosphere of cooperation and synergy. These individuals demonstrate that working together in the spirit cooperation can lead to acceptable solutions for both parties. The contributions of these individuals help pave the way for the successful development and implementation of new financial and compliance systems in the fall of 2001.

COPAS is instrumental in its continuing efforts to help RMP refine its business processes, delineate reporting requirements and leverage information technology to achieve business objectives RMP is committed to in the 21st century. COPAS is at the forefront in volunteering its support to provide:

• critical insight into industry practices;
• valuable input to RMP’s Financial Reengineering System Team in the design of the new royalty and production forms;
• crucial input to technological opportunities; and
• important information and assistance to RMP in developing the conceptual framework for the new compliance and asset management system.

COPAS brings to the table the positions of not only large companies but medium and small size companies as well. COPAS is extremely helpful in proactively providing an avenue for RMP outreach to industry on the RMP Reengineering Initiative at COPAS’ quarterly meetings and Education Days as well as setting up ad hoc meetings whenever necessary.
