Employee Assistance

The Employee Work and Life Assistance Program is a counseling and referral service available to MMS employees and their immediate family members at no cost.  Crisis counselors answer the telephone and help with whatever type of issue or concern they are qualified to handle.  The counselors are trained professionals and can assist you directly or refer you to the appropriate help.  Strict confidentiality is maintained.

Assistance will be available from a counselor who will:

bullet help assess the problem;
bullet provide short-term counseling or problem solving when appropriate (5-6 sessions);
bullet follow-up to ensure you receive quality assistance; and
bullet make recommendations for follow-up services, if the situation requires longer care.

Counselors are available 24 hour/7 days a week. Phone the Federal Occupational Health at 1-800-222-0364 or Cope, Inc. at 1-800-247-3054 (Washington, DC area). Both offices will assist all callers.

If you have relocated or have been displaced temporarily and need face-to-face counseling, please contact Federal Occupational Health at 1-800-222-0364. Provide your current zip code, and they will refer you and your family to a local counselor.

The MMS cares about the wellbeing of its employees and our goal is to highlight the resources that are available to our MMS family in their time of need.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families as you rebuild your lives, homes and communities.
